Since 2019, Fryshuset has been a Eurodesk contact point, offering young people the chance to discover opportunities to study and volunteer abroad. Around that time, the first volunteers came up with Time to Meet, a project inspired by Eurodesk’s Time to Move campaign.

Since then, every week, international and national volunteers have set up a cozy corner in Fryshuset’s foajén, where they meet students to talk about international mobility and how to take part in it. Time to Meet has always been about connecting, listening, and inspiring one another to take that first step toward exploring the world.

This October, volunteers at Fryshuset marked Time to Move Month with something special: a big Halloween-themed event. The foajén came alive with spooky decorations, creative activities, and plenty of laughter. As part of the celebration, the volunteers hosted a special Halloween edition of Time to Meet, where they shared scary stories from different countries and invited everyone to join a fun melting beads workshop.

I chose to do this activity because I wanted to inform people about mobility opportunities in a fun and interactive way… a way that also brings back childhood memories, since many children in Sweden have used melting beads at least once” said Rivana, national volunteer. “I hoped to create a welcoming and engaging environment.”

Armine, international volunteer, also added: “We wanted to do a Halloween-themed Eurodesk event because it sounded fun and a bit different. It turned out to be more about enjoying the moment than making it perfect – and I really liked that.

The event perfectly captured the spirit of Time to Move: curiosity, creativity, and connection. It was a joyful afternoon where young people discovered that exploring the world can start with something as simple as a story, a smile, or a shared moment.
