Fryshuset is granted 2999220 SEK for a project to support Ukraine

The Swedish Institute has granted funding for Ukraine Community Builders (UCB), a project which aims to strengthen inclusive leadership, promote EU values, and build resilient, community-based youth work in Ukraine. Developed in partnership between Fryshuset and Ukrainian civil society organizations STAN and Zahyst, UCB is a structured, four-part training programme. 

The project starts in November 2025 and runs until April 2026. 

The Swedish Institute is a public agency that finances collaborations between Swedish and Ukrainian organizations and individuals. “Through on-site projects and educational initiatives, we at the Swedish Institute contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction and EU rapprochement. Our role in Sweden’s support for Ukraine is highly prioritised. The projects also strengthen resilience in both Ukraine and Sweden,” states Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director General of the Swedish Institute. 

Through Ukraine Community Builders we want to empower Ukrainian leaders to become inclusive and resilient changemakers. By the end of the programme, 25 leaders will not only strengthen their knowledge of inclusive and value-based leadership but will also develop concrete action plans that can be implemented within their own organizations and communities. At the same time, the collaboration between participants and partner organizations will create a strong network for peer learning, long-term cooperation and shared development. For Fryshuset, this project is also an important step in deepening our collaboration with Ukrainian civil society, building sustainable partnerships based on mutual learning, solidarity and a shared commitment to inclusive leadership, says Ksusha Svidnytska, project coordinator.
