Fryshuset’s Youth Participation Model
Our Youth Participation Model is based on more than 40 years of Fryshuset’s experience in strengthening young people’s participation in society. The model provides a framework that ensures young people from all backgrounds are included and heard.
At Fryshuset, youth-oriented activities are at the core of everything we do. We create inclusive spaces where young people can connect, explore their interests, develop new skills, and grow both personally and professionally.
Trust & Relationships
Building positive relationships between young people and adults.
Fryshuset works to create safe and inclusive spaces where young people can be themselves. Engagement happens on young people’s terms, with a focus on commitment and trust.
Tools & Meetings
Creating opportunities for young people from different backgrounds.
Fryshuset creates opportunities for youths to find connection and engagement. We reduce prejudices and strengthen understanding, while also providing tools for development and positive societal change.
Influence & Independence
Supporting young people to make an impact in society.
By supporting youth-led initiatives and active participation, Fryshuset creates sustainable engagement and empowers young people to shape their own futures.
Fryshuset works with the youth participation model as one core logic that is applied differently depending on the project, target group, and context: it starts by understanding how young people are doing and what they need, then shapes activities accordingly, applies tailored methods such as mentoring, job coaching, workshops, or dialogue, and leads to outcomes like employment, inclusion, and active participation — while gradually giving young people trust, responsibility, and decision-making power.
Examples of how this is implemented can be found in different project reports and methodological materials.
