Childhood foundation is founded in 1999 by Queen Silvia of Sweden, the World Childhood Foundation is dedicated to safeguarding children’s rights to childhood and, in particular, working to improve living conditions for children living in vulnerable environments around the world. Childhood foundation has supported Fryshuset in various ways for a long time.

Various types of violence and sexual abuse are closely linked. Children who are victims of or witness violence are at a higher risk of revictimization. Childhood knows it is not unavoidable – it is possible to prevent and mitigate the consequences of sexual abuse of children. Childhood is convinced that it is easier to make children strong than it is to mend broken adults. That’s why the word prevent is at the heart of everything they do.

Childhood primarily works with groups who are at the greatest risk of exposure to violence and sexual abuse. This includes children who live on the street, children who are already victims of violence and abuse, children who are unable to live with their parents or who live in a family where the parents are unable to give them what children need most – trustworthy adults.

Yesterday, Raisa Lång Velazco and Martin Dworén got the opportunity to inform about Fryshuset’s collaboration with the city of Fortaleza in Brazil and share their future development plans. Last spring, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been agreed upon between the City of Fortaleza and Fryshuset. Based on the MoU, the parties aim to achieve the establishment of a number of Fryshuset’s programmes and methods in Fortaleza and possibly in other cities as well.
