SAYP 2025-2026: The Third Cycle officially started in Stockholm

The third cycle of the 2026 SAYP programme, Inclusive Youth Work and Leadership in the Eastern Partnership, has officially started.

From 1–5 June, Fryshuset hosted Lead Together, the third module of the second cycle of the SAYP programme, organised in partnership with the Armenian Progressive Youth, and with the finances of the Swedish Institute. The programme brings together young people and professionals working with youth from civil society organisations, public institutions, and the private sector in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. It aims to strengthen the capacity of organisations across the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region to develop and implement innovative solutions for youth inclusion.

Prior to arriving in Sweden, SAYP participants took part in an onsite module held in Moldova in January 2026, followed by a series of online sessions exploring inclusive leadership, psychological safety, diversity-sensitive facilitation methods, and approaches to building trust and safe spaces in youth work. As a follow-up to this third module, a roundtable will be organised in Georgia, where SAYP participants and alumni will discuss how the knowledge and tools gained through the programme can be applied in their local contexts and inform policy discussions.

The module in Stockholm addressed key challenges and opportunities in youth work, focusing on youth participation and inclusion, gender equality, effective communication for cross-border partnerships, and strategic leadership. SAYP participants shared their perspectives and experiences on these themes through presentations, workshops, and coaching sessions, designed to support more inclusive and strategic youth work across the Eastern Partnership region. The programme also included a study visit to Fryshuset’s facilities and the Swedish Institute, providing participants with first-hand insight into initiatives and opportunities available to young people from the EaP in Sweden. These activities encouraged SAYP participants to reflect on the role and impact of youth work in the EaP region, while equipping them with practical tools and frameworks to facilitate youth inclusion into organisational planning, and apply these approaches within their own organisations.

In addition, cultural activities were organised, including a visit to the Europa Experience at Stockholm Culture House Stadsteatern to learn more about EU work and cooperation, as well as visits to Skansen and the ABBA Museum to gain insight into Swedish culture and environment.

Reflecting on the learning outcomes of the programme and their overall experience, participants shared their impressions.
